I usually wear a size 8 1/2 and the 8 1/2 of these fit, but I returned them for a size 9. The 8 1/2 I would have only been able to wear thin socks with. If you like to wear thick socks at all (not even extra thick, but not super thin socks) I'd suggest ordering a half size up. I debated about these and lots of other boots that looked very similar. But am very glad I got these! They do not look cheap at all (versus some others I looked at) and are very comfortable! The red zipper on the back is really cute and the cognac color is beautiful. The one problem I have is the little straps on the bottom are pretty loose. I'm probably going to end up punching more holes in them to tighten them up
